I am hardworking, have good time keeping skills...

Yes the time has come to dust off and update that CV. Although mine isn't that outdated as I have just successfully started working at 2 different jobs, must be doing something right with the CV business!
However I needed to make it more personal, and more fashion related.
I started with the classic, my name and my key skills. I feel that companies get through hundreds of CVs a days, you want yours to stand out, by having your keys skills at the top of the page you hope to grab their attention.
Further down I have my qualifications and any work experience I have completed.
As for the personalization of the CV I chose a simple black boarder and a black butterfly, a family symbol, simple, classic and minimal, much like my style and at the end of the day that was who I want to represent!
Next came my work placement wishlist.
Over the summer whilst waiting to start my summer job I had a month off with nothing to do, so I decided to organise my life and make a list of places I wanted to work and their contact details, so making my wish list was pretty easy, I did add some places onto the list that weren't fashion related such as Twickenham Rugby Stadium and Harlequins Rugby Stadium, being a massive rugby fan and wanting to work in events meant that these two places would also be ideal, and also give me a chance to branch outside of the fashion industry.
Some other places I put down included Wonderland magazine, Elle magazine, Indigo PR and Taylor Herring PR.
All the places I listed would be amazing places to work, I would be sincerely grateful to work at any of them!!

Just 2 guys and one landline...

2 guys and one landline, this is how the company F-tape started. The company was founded in January 2009 and since then has been a successful online fashion database, mainly used by students and the industry. From their exposure of new designer talent to their model wall, its clear that of you want to find something in the fashion industry then F-tape will surely have it.
This lecture really inspired me to look at the possibility of having my own company. It is something I have thought about for a while and listening to Julian and Daniel talk about their company and their passion for what they do has once again inspired me and made me think about what I want to do and how I can achieve this.
If you are interested in fashion then I seriously recommend you paying a visit to their website, even if your not that interested I still recommend   you visit the website with its clear navigation and mountains of information you won't be sorry!

Inspiration is the key...

So today we had 2 different talks by people from the Industry.
The first was from a guy called Lloyd Scott Tyler, who is the Fashion and Lifestyle Managing Editor for Disorder Magazine. I found this talk so inspiring and slightly intimidating as he was closer to my age than some people in the industry and started his work experience when he was just 16! Amazing, it made me think about what I had done so far and then made me realize I really need to get a move on with my work experience!
Listening to him talk about all that he had done with such enthusiasm made me feel excited and want to really push myself to work as hard as I can to achieve exactly what I want.
Our second talk from was an illustrator called Dan Mumford who works freelance and has designed a whole range of things including album covers for bands such as The Gallows, Deftones and Funeral For A Friend. This got me pretty excited because I am pretty much in love with these bands!
Recently he has started designing his own T-Shirt company and has produced the most amazing designs that I have seen. One I particularly liked was a design that had a sparrow on it, I am seriously considering getting this tattooed on me as I love it so much and have been looking at sparrow designs to get.
Here are some examples of Disorder Magazine and of Dan Mumfords work.

Enter the working world...

So I have just began back at uni for my 3rd year, and have received my first two projects for the first term. Our first is a group project, creating our own trends company, the second is a CV project preparing us for our work experience in our summer semester and for the working world when we graduate!
Needless to say I was a little bit terrified when I left the lecture... I mean what on earth do I really want to with my life. I know I love two things, fashion and organising... so I think I will start from there...
So here is my blog about my work experience and how I will get there!
Enjoy!
